I wake up every night at 3a.m, and have trouble going back to sleep. The article indicated that melatonin resets your sleep rhythms, and helps sleeping through the night. I purchased these and LOVE them. I've taken sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and other things prescribed to sleep before, but the melatonin works the best for me. I do have lots of dreams, but I wake up feeling like I got the best sleep ever! I saw my doctor last week and asked if there was any problems with me taking these regularly and he said no, I could take it every night if I wanted.

(More customer reviews)I travel about 150,000 miles every year, mostly for pleasure and mostly international. When I do travel, its usually for a few days - one week at most. This Melatonin product is the only reason why I can do this. I pop 1/2 to 3/4 of a tablet about 20 minutes prior to sleeping. After this 20 minutes, I begin to feel sleepy and start dozing off. Before I know it, its been a good 8 hours sleep!
This is no miracle drug. You must avoid all caffeine about 5 hours prior to your planned bedtime, no high sugars, no crazy exercise. Melatonin assists you to fall asleep. When asleep, it assists you to reach and maintain a very deep sleep - high REM. Some people claim they wake up drowsy - if so, simply take less Melatonin. The dosage is different for each person, and only you will know what amount is right for you based on experience.
But the best aspect of all is that its all-natural with no synthetics, so its almost impossible to overdose on it. Its also not habit forming at all, unlike some prescription medication. Melatonin is a naturally occuring hormone that induces your body to sleep, and this maker of melatonin has been one of the best for me. (Absorption, ability to break into smaller pieces, and value!)

Even though I was exposed almost daily to sick people. Whether the Immune Boost helped that much or I was lucky, I don't know. But I am continuing taking it. Some of the prescription heavy-hitting sleep aids (Ambien, etc.) didn't help me at all in my endeavor to overcome this problem. The one prescription sleep aid that does consistently work for me is a heavy, heavy duty one that has many more side effects than it does benefits.
I tried the kindler, gentler route and investigated many life changes, learning more than I ever wanted to about the world of "sleep hygiene" at my GP's recommendation last year. I tried melatonin to no avail, finding I could practically take it in any form by the fistful any not feel any drowsier.
The same is not true for valerian, thankfully, or at least Gaia Herb's valerian. Gaia offers an exceptional and a potent form of the herb. No sooner than half an hour before I am ready to doze off I drop two eyedroppers full of the herb in a cup of caffeine-free tea (something strong enough to mask the flavor; typically not chamomile) and within fifteen minutes feel calmer.
Not having to worry about any negative effects on my liver or any habit-forming effects is an added bonus.

(More customer reviews)5-HTP is the greatest supplement ever! I was kind of depressed, leaving my house a mess and way over eathing unhealthy food. A week after starting to use 5-HTP daily, my fog lifted, my entire house is clean now, I eat a fraction of what I used to an no longer have uncontrollable cravings, hardly any cravings at all for that matter. I have lost 10lbs since starting 5-HTP because my diet has changed sooo much. Where I wouldn't touch fish before, I'm now eating salmon daily. Instead of beef, I eat much more chicken, and instead of processed grains I eat much more vegetables. The mental changes were all caused by 5-HTP, I'm certain of it.

Like with everything, it may not work the same for you, everyone is different, but if you are feeling a bit off, try it. Give it at least a week before you give up; it does take some time to start working, but once it's built up in your system, you should feel better than you've felt in a long time!

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT:
As 5-HTP goes, this is good stuff and reasonably priced. It does seem to cause vivid dreams and it seems to have the effects it is supposed to. However, it should be noted that although you need take only 1-2 capsules for insomnia, the short half life of 5-HTP from "GRIFFONIA SEEDS" necessitates rather frequent dosing for depression and appetite suppression, usually 4x per day and attention needs to be paid to the timing of doses with other amino acids. Serotonin syndrome may also be an issue for some.
Whereas many important issues are not certain or resolved regarding 5-HTP dosage and usage, it does seem to do a lot of good when used appropriately. Naturally a lot more can be said and books have been written on 5-HTP. It is a product that must be used with considerable care and professional medical monitoring is advisable due to the serious conditions it is used for and its effects on human brain chemistry. [Depression, Obesity, Insomnia] Nevertheless after taking it for about 5 years I can say that I have experienced no negative side effects. Also, I have noticed reduced cravings for sweets, less anxiety in social situations and have slept better than I ever have. There has also been no sign of 5-HTP being habit forming in my experience.
5-HTP WITH L-TYROSINE?
If you are considering using this product for anxiety or sociophobic disorders 'NOW' makes a 200mg dosage combined with the amino acid L-tyrosine. Many have found the addition of 250 mg of L-tyrosine to be most helpful and the product still retains all of its other characteristics. This variation also contains 10 mg. of niacin and 3 mg. of Vitamin B6 per capsule. The addition of L-tyrosine is supposed to be helpful to those suffering from anxiety and sociophobic symptoms in addition to the usual things that 5-HTP by itself is supposed to be good for.
ABOUT BRANDS:
I have used several brands with good results. Nature's Way is probably my favorite because they have very strict quality control and it shows in the consistency of their products. They also include 10 mg. of vitamin B6 and 60 mg. of vitamin C in each 50 mg. dose of 5-HTP, which is 1 capsule. "NOW" is excellent as well and they offer 5-HTP with 250 mg. of L-Tyrosine which is compliments the effects of the 5-HTP. The 'SOURCE NATURAL' brand is one that I used in 2003 and 2004 with good results. The price offered here is for the 50 mg. dose, though a dose of at least 100 mg. is needed for therapeutic purposes. Nature's Way does offer the 100 mg. does as well as this smaller 50 mg. dose pictured here. [I am not affiliated with any product or company]

I have also purchased tryptophan powder from other companies and they just were not the same, you can tell by the look of the powder, the taste and it's effectiveness. Doctor's Best was very effective at less than the recommended dose of 1 gram. I have used Ajinomoto's amino acid supplements from another company for over 10 years, trytophan was one of them. They are of the best quality I have used thus far and as I mentioned I have tried using other products but they just aren't the same quality. I am very picky after years of putting garbage into my body and damaging my liver making it almost necessary that I use amino acid supplements to promote the healing process.
I would recommend this product to my friends.

(More customer reviews)I used minoxildil for over a year and didn't get very good results so I followed a friend's example and started using the NuHair system about five weeks ago. I had no high expectations other than I hoped that it would stop my receding hairline. To my surprise I've regrown hair along my hairline where there hasn't been hair for years. I hope that the regrowth continues.
One thing that I've also noticed, and is a con in my opinion, is that it affects all hair. I'm not extremely hairy all over my body but more than I'd ever want and this seems to increase the growth rate of that hair, too. Shouldn't be surprised by this, can't have it all I guess.
