The presence of this nice aftertaste reminded me that I was getting a calming benefit, and it felt good. But I don't know if the positive experience was due to the placebo effect or if this herb really works in tolerable doses.
The main ingredient, holy basil, is an adaptogen. That means herbalists consider it a natural herb that helps the body resist stress, trauma, anxiety and fatigue. Adaptogens, such as Holy Basil, are nontoxic in normal doses. Ginseng, rhodiola, licorice, and maca are among the better-known adaptogens.
Holy Basil (Tulsi) is a green leafy plant that is strongly scented and produces small purple flowers. It has long been used in Chinese and Indian medicine and also Thai cuisine. I liked opening the jar and smelling the softgel capsules. There are about three vendors on Amazon offering this product and the values differ considerably. I recommend shopping for value and trying it.
