(More customer reviews)Heed the warnings. This will definitely make you drowsy and unable to do much of anything once it takes effect. Much of the Spring Valley stuff is considered sub-par in the pharmaceuticals department, but I can vouch for the Valerian Root that it is potent if you need to sleep.
Usually 15-30 minutes after taking it, you will feel your body relax a bit, your movements will get slower, and your heart rate dips as you begin to nod out.
I generally take it if I know I need to sleep but I'm too restless on my own. It smells like butt when you open it (no joke, it fills the room like someone just took off their socks) and the smell won't go away for three minutes, but it's worth the stench if you need some sleep.
Great sleep aid, however I would NOT take it during the daytime.

(More customer reviews)Valerian Root if you don't already know, is a sleep inducer. If your having difficultly trying to get to sleep, take 2 of these and within about 30 minutes your out cold. When you wake up the next morning, there is no "medicine head" feel to it, you don't wake up feeling groggy. I love it, since I have to take so many medications, take an herbal supplement to help me sleep every once in a while is quite nice.

Unlike Tom's, the Burt's Bees deodorant states that it is paraben and pthalate-free. It is also aluminum-free. It is NOT an anti-perspirant (not marketed as one), but if you are looking for a good all-nautral deodorant for a man, this one fits the bill.

(More customer reviews)Yes, I have to agree with everyone else here, these pills smell absolutely horrid, but I tried them last night, and I did get a noticably better sleep, I just felt more refreshed.
Update: I've been taking two a night, as the bottle suggests, and I am getting a more rested sleep. It's been a week now, and I don't really notice the smell of the pills now either. Good stuff. Celestial Seasons also makes a tea with Valerian, so if you don't like pills, perhaps try that.

I also use it in my natural black (dredlock) hair as a moisturizing and herbal oil and it works just the same--without any greasy build-up in my hair or scalp. I also use it the same way on my 3 year old son, and we both agree, "It smells really good!" The scent is "almondy"--delicate, but not too overpowering. Also, what I like about the bottle is that the special design of the cap allows it to drip out rather than gush out. You can squeeze the bottle harder for increased flow, if you desire. I gave it a try and though it will not put you to sleep, it has a calming effect that relaxes you and helps you fall into a deeper sleep. I add a few drops with my camomile tea at night. This is not considered a sleeping aid but more of a stress reliever.

I began this after having a bottle of beer one night when I was in the throes of a particularly bad flare and felt better the next day. After a little checking on the Web, I discovered that hops is thought to be helpful for arthritis. I also take turmeric caps, so I am not 100% sure whether one is better than the other. In my very non-medical opinion, hops is worth a try.

This gets me relaxed, to sleep, I stay asleep and I wake up refreshed--not zombified.
I've tried other combo supplements that have Valerian, plus GABA or plus Melatonin, Tryptophan, etc, etc. The plain Valerian works best for me.
