(More customer reviews)Alpha Lipoic acid is quite good for two specific uses. First, it is a potent aid in lowering blood sugar. In fact, if you suffer from hyperinsulinemia - the first stage of prediabetes - it will probably make you feel like you have or actually give you hypoglycemia - which is low blood sugar. Secondly, it is very good for helping prevent neuropathy in anyone who suffers from the disorder, not just diabetics. My father isn't diabetic at all but is one of those rare people who suffers from neuropathy in his legs anyways. Taking daily supplements of alpha lipoic acid has helped reduce the pain of this disorder in his case. Be careful of the dosage you take, though. At first he was recommended inordinately high doses of the supplement and found that his blood white cell count had strayed from normal. He reduced his dosage and the problem went away. Also note that if you have acid reflux that this product can cause worsened heartburn in some cases.
