These vitamins actually give me energy. When I run out or forget to take them I feel sluggish. The tablets are pretty big so if you have a hard time swallowing pills these may be a challenge for you. Everyone who's taken these on my recommendation, loves them.

This fish oil is great in the area that if you don't like burping up fish when you take fish oil supplements this one contains lemon extract so when you burp it smells like lemon instead.

DEVA Vegan Vitamins Vegan DHA (Algae) 200mg Vegan Softgels, 90-Count Bottle Review

DEVA Vegan Vitamins Vegan DHA (Algae) 200mg Vegan Softgels, 90-Count Bottle
Average Reviews:

Whether the DHA is doing anything for me I can't say for sure. I do think I finish newspaper puzzles faster because of it, but that's not based on any scientific study. What I like about these capsules is that they look fresh. A previous version of these used a casing that looked like the capsules were quite old and seemed rigid, if not more difficult to swallow. These are not unlike my wife's gelatin based capsules. As a committed vegetarian (who would have thought that I would out myself on Amazon) it was important to not use animal products at all and DEVA's product lives up to that and the quality of the product is an added bonus.

Nordic Naturals Arctic-D Cod Liver Oil Review

Nordic Naturals Arctic-D Cod Liver Oil
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used this for a short while and was very pleased with the taste. As far as refined fish oils go this is the best one on the market. The reason for the 2 stars is I and most other have no Idea that this and most other fish oils contain artificial vitamins and the fish oil itself has little benefit after deodorizing and processing. Because so much of the natural goodness is removed they have to add it all back.
I wish there was some sort of consumer protection label to warn people about this many would still choose to take it but the more health conscious would search for more natural sources of vitamins.
There are still a few brands out there that do unrefined Fish oils however you do have to deal with the taste
,fortunately there are capsules and the liquid pump as well. Vital choice salmon oil is awesome with high natural vitamin A & D There is also Fermented Cod liver oil by Blue Ice High A & D . Fermented is the traditional way it has been made for thousands of years and the healthiest. It is more expensive per bottle but you need to take less so it comes out even in cost. If you see a fish oil high in EPA and DHA and low in A it is most like been highly processed.
Consumers want High EPA & DHA so they alter the oil it does not come naturally that way from a super fish.

Carlson Labs Norwegian Natural Vitamin E Cod Liver Oil Review

Carlson Labs Norwegian Natural Vitamin E Cod Liver Oil
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Add my name to the Carlson's CLO fan club! I started taking this lemon flavored CLO a few weeks ago, after reading a lot about cod liver oil on the Weston Price Foundation website. For those who are unfamiliar with Weston Price, he was a dentist who published a book in 1939 called "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration," in which he talked about the importance of vitamin D in a person's diet. High vitamin cod liver oil is something he specifically recommends as helpful to dental and physical health.
I searched around for high vitamin cod liver oil that was fermented, but wasn't ready to make the commitment to buy it, because it is very expensive. I respect the folks who make it and sell it, but my budget wouldn't allow it. I am also kind of a wimp about stuff that tastes bad.
I tried Carlson's instead, and I have to say that I have seen visible improvements in my health.
I'm 31 and female, but have had problems with stiffness for a couple years now (especially in the morning, and in my back). Arthritis runs in my family, so I was starting to fear that it was slowly descending on me. Not to sound like someone selling snake oil, but since I started taking this CLO, the stiffness has eased up considerably, and I don't get as achy as I used to. I know that the EPA in this oil has anti-inflammatory properties, so I guess it comes from that.
Another thing I have noticed is that my memory and ability to focus have improved, which comes from the DHA in the oil. I have found that I can concentrate better, and don't feel the sluggishness that sometimes would creep up on me at work.
Lastly, I live in Chicago. I usually get the "winter blues," but can honestly say that I have not been feeling them yet, and it is halfway through December, which means it is dark when I get up and dark when I leave work.
I highly recommend this oil. I have been telling my friends about it, and I bought some for my dad who has diabetes. It is possible that the fermented, high vitamin stuff is better (per the recommendation of the WPF), but this has helped me already and I wanted to share that with others who could benefit.
PS--get the smaller bottle, because it needs to be used up within 3 months for optimal freshness. Buying a bulk size in this case is not a good idea unless you have a family that can use it up in 3 months.
UPDATE--June 10, 2010--Curiosity got the best of me, and I did order the high vitamin fermented cod liver oil & butter oil online. I guess I suffer from grass-is-greener syndrome! :) I bought the cinnamon tingle gel of that brand, and it wasn't a turnoff taste-wise, but it wasn't something I would ever crave, either. However, a friend of mine tried it and thought it was gross. I didn't see any visible difference in my health between using that and Carlson's. But supposedly the vitamins are all-natural and undisturbed in the other brand, and Carlson's may have been subjected to high temps. I just wanted to include the update in case people were debating between Carlson's and the high vitamin variety. Carlson's definitely has the mildest, least offensive taste. But the other one isn't bad.

Rainbow Light Vitamin D (1000 IU) Sunny Gummies, 50-Count Gummies (Pack of 3) Review

Rainbow Light Vitamin D (1000 IU) Sunny Gummies, 50-Count Gummies (Pack of 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These gummies are fantastic. They taste great and are an easy way for my kids and I to get our Vitamin D. My kids always remind me to give them their vitamin - not so with the soft gels or drops. They love them. Even I prefer them to the Vit D drops because they taste so good! :)
Also, this supplier is amazing! We re-ordered this product this summer, and because it was so hot here in TX (100 + degrees) the vitamins melted. The company happily agreed to allow us to return them for a full refund AND they paid our shipping costs. I was so impressed! I will definitely re-order this product as soon as the temperatures cool down.
I highly recommend this product and supplier.

Green Pasture's Blue Ice Fermented Cod Liver Oil, Arctic Mint - 8 Fl. Oz (237 ml) Review

Green Pasture's Blue Ice Fermented Cod Liver Oil, Arctic Mint - 8 Fl. Oz (237 ml)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The best form of cod liver oil is fermented cod liver oil (FCLO). Fermented cod liver oil has not been subjected to any high heat processing which destroys vitamin content. That is unique so far in the industry.
Fermented cod liver oil is much higher in vitamins A, D and K2 without the additional of synthetic vitamins. Significantly lower doses of vitamins A and D from FCLO may be needed as compared to synthetic versions of these nutrients which do not contain the all-important cofactors which may enhance the body's uptake and usage.
Cod liver oil is also rich in the omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA.
The dosage is usually 1 teaspoon daily for adults, and 2 teaspoons daily for those fighting serious illness.
This product is considered as a superfood rather than a supplement and is also considered by the Westen A. Price Foundation as a far superior source of Omega 3s compared to fish oil. (Which they explains is always heat treated and heavily processed, as well as not containing vitamins A, D and K2.) They also recommend that cod liver oil always be combined with a diet containing whole foods and good sources of healthy saturated fats such as butter or coconut oil.
FCLO is more expensive than other cod liver oils, but it is also a far superior product. Dr Sherry Rogers explains that cod liver oil is crucial for the control of over 1000 genes as well as repair of the mitochondria.
Green Pastures do non-emulsified and emulsified version of FCLO in a variety of different flavours. All the flavours are good and take away any fishy taste completely, but I have to say I am not at all a fan of the emulsified ones. The one I have in my fridge now is a gloppy mess with the most horrible grainy texture. I can't wait till that bottle runs out and I can switch to the lovely liquid FCLO I have waiting on my shelf!
I don't know if mine went weird and this isn't usual, but mine is nothing like the nice gel or jelly type product I'd hoped for. It almost makes me gag. I'll only be buying the liquid ones from now on and can't recommend the emulsified FCLO at all.
I'd worried with this product about it maybe causing a burning sensation but I have only experienced that once, and only very mildly.
Overall this is a great product and far superior to fish oil or regular CLO and I'm really happy that this one company is now making this traditional superfood again!

Source Naturals Vegetarian DHA, 200mg Review

Source Naturals Vegetarian DHA, 200mg
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the Source Naturals Vegetarian DHA to supplement my prenatal vitamin/mineral. I specifically wanted a vegetarian form because, having taken fish oils in the past, am wary about the fishy aftertaste they often leave behind (I'm not a fish fan, anyway). These are smallish softgels, really easy to swallow, and do NOT leave any fishy aftertaste. I do take them with apple juice just in case, but so far have not noticed anything unusual. Source Naturals is a good brand, too, so this is a good, affordable way to supplement with DHA, whether you are taking it for yourself or are a pregnant/nursing woman wanting to enhance fetal/baby brain development. If you are looking for a good source of DHA and don't want it from a fish-source, then buy this product!!!
