(More customer reviews)When my doctor informed me of my diagnosis of celiac disease, the first thing he said was, "you need methylfolate." The reason is that the folate molecule is carried on a chain of gluten molecules. If you can't process gluten, you cannot access folate. In the methyl version, the folate is freed (optimized) from the gluten molecule and is now available for use throughout the body.
I began taking methylfolate because I had celiac psychosis. It is caused by a lack of neurotransmitters in the brain. Most neurotransmitters are built on folate (nor-epinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, etc) Long-time undiagnosed celiacs cannot build neurotransmitters because of the inability to access folate. The methyl form prevents and reverses celiac psychosis.
Folate is essential to the repair of the gut lining and immune system, both of which are destroyed in celiac disease. I hope this product restores your health as it has mine. It probably saved my life. (don't forget to maintain gluten-free diet for a lifetime as well - but take this product!!)
