(More customer reviews)I was a huge fan of the original formulation of Herbal Clear deodorant, so I was a little skeptical when I saw they were changing the formulation to be PG free. It still works well, but it does not go on nearly as smoothly - a big minus for my very sensitive armpits. The smell is pleasantly clean, as it was with the standard formula, but is a bit stronger and longer-lasting, something I actually do not find appealing. I definitely prefer the old, PG-containing formula and will be stocking up in case they decide to discontinue it. The new packaging of the standard formula appears to be calling the same fragrance "Mountain Air Fresh," for those interested in comparing the two.
To those considering this product due to health concerns about PG, current scientific research indicates that there are no toxicity or carcinogenic risks associated with typical oral or topical exposure. While PG is a derivative of natural gas and may not be the most green ingredient, it is safe to use from a health standpoint.
