(More customer reviews)I have been taking 25 mg a day of dihydroxyepiandrosterone (DHEA) since 1997, with no ill effect. I use very high purity product like the product from Schiff. I can't tell you if this steroid precursor truly acts like pregnenolone (3'-hydroxy-pregn-5-en-20-one; PREG) which has been shown to extend the lifespan of the free-living worm C. elegans in studies of "the Fountain of Youth" by San Francisco researcher Cynthia Kenyon:

But the structures of DHEA and PREG are remarkably similar, and I still get carded at bars. Results may vary, as the fine print states. Warning, I am male. DHEA supplementation is not recommended for women between the ages of puberty and menopause; it will disrupt normal steroid circuitry, because it can elevate the level of androgens in women:
