She takes one daily 50 mg silica capsule now (has taken it for ten years now,) and her nails really show the difference - longer, stronger, even and requiring regular trimming. Horsetail, properly Equisetum avense (interestingly the survivor of an ancient plant genus literally surviving from the era of dinosaurs,) is an excellent natural source of silica (if you rub, say, an aluminum soda can with a piece of equisetum, you can rub off the labeling! This silica is what you get, and it is an excellent dietary supplement for those needing it.
