(More customer reviews)I suffer from GERD, IBS, and a small Hiatal Hernia among other things. I have stomach pains A LOT and milk or milk products hurt me in ways that only people that get hurt by them would understand. Digesting just wasn't my thing. After a long time of suffering, I eventually went to a Gastroenterologist who, after running a few tests, prescribed me Nexium. That tiny purple pill did wonders for me. It helped regulate so many things including the pains I would randomly feel. The only problem was that it was getting to a point where I was becoming dependent on the pill and I'm not a fan of medicine forever. I started looking up natural remedies like peppermint teas or taking a tablespoon of vinegar before every meal (both worked great for me too by the way) and with a little time and research I came accross the concept of Digestive Enzymes. I looked up reviews for which ones were the best and asked around as much as I could and finally I came accross these Bluebonnet Optimum Enzymes.
I started taking one capsule each day with my biggest meal and after a couple of weeks, I was doing great. I was even able to have milky products again (chocolate, how I had missed you...)! For holidays or days when I just have way too much food or foods that I know are on the harder side to digest, I'll take more than one (never more than one per meal though - just one per large or heavy meal - I've never gone beyond 2 in one day). There were even days when I accidently forgot to take my Nexium but I was still okay thanks to these enzymes. The best thing about them was that I felt like I could process foods again and I didn't have to be scared to eat. Nowadays, I follow a non-calorie-counting diet, I make sure to include fruits and veggies in my meals and I don't overindulge (other than on holidays or really special occasions) and I still take the digestive enzymes regularly. You may think that the Nexium is what helped me so much and not these little pills but you're wrong. Nexium helped me a lot but the Optimum Enzymes helped the Nexium as far as I'm concerned. I feel lighter, more energetic and overall a little bit healthier thanks to them!
Granted, I'm not a doctor and I can't be 1000% sure about these things, but what I do know is that I feel they've helped me tremendously. As usual, always make sure you talk to your doctor before taking anything to be safe and remember that taking these doesn't mean you can over-indulge on foods all the time. I'm just glad I found them for me. I hope they help other people out there!! Go ahead, ask your doctor what he or she thinks about taking them and hopefully they'll make your lives a little better too!
(I just wish I could find something to make all my other health problems get easier to handle too now... lol.)
