My wife and I used to take Nature's Plus "Source of Life" but they caused a distinctive "crash" feeling about two or three hours after taking them. So we went looking for a time release multi vitamin/mineral. And we chose Twinlab's Dualtabs. So far, no crash.
You take four of these a day, but work up to it if you've been taking a low-dose vitamin like Centrum. You'll get a distinct jolt from these if you suddenly take four a day. So start with one in the morning, one at dinner, then a week later, add another in the morning, etc... Or take it slower.
Only the vitamin part is time release, the minerals are immediate release, and they will acidify your stomach a bit (for better absorption), so eat a cracker or two if you plan to skip breakfast.
One of the benefits of these is the lower dose of iron. Unlike some iron-containing vitamins, these have a lower dose to hopefully avoid the constipation iron can produce. You may be able to take these even if you normally avoid iron-containing vitamins. Again, start slowly, and work up to the 4 a day.
UPDATE: 3-24-11: I just lost a lot of weight, and during the weight loss, I was quite dependent on multivitamins to keep up my energy. Went to the doctor and guess what? No problems. No iron deficiency (though why they checked, I don't know). I should say though that I take fish oil separately from this. I don't know about you, but I consider fish oil to be a vitamin. And unless you're taking 4 of these a day, consider adding extra Vitamin C, calcium and magnesium to the mix. Especially if you're on a weight loss kick, as I learned, bones get thinner too. It's still healthier to lose weight though.

This dietary supplement has bi-layer tablets with sustained release vitamins. DualTabs Mega Vitamin and Mineral Formula is a revolutionary new concept in multivitamin and mineral supplementation. Each tablet is composed of one layer of fat-soluble vitamins as well as sustained release water soluble vitamins, and another layer of rapid release minerals and digestive aids.
The water soluble vitamins are released over a prolonged period of time through the passage in the digestive tract for optimum absorption. DualTabs sustained release bi-layer formula also eliminates the need to take vitamins more than twice daily to achieve peak blood levels of water soluble vitamins over a prolonged period of time. DualTabs eliminate the interaction between incompatible nutrients for maximum stability and quality. Iron is specially coated to minimize gastric disturbance. Sustained release nutrients enhance mineral digestion and absorption.
