(More customer reviews)To donate blood in most blood centers, a person needs to have a hematocrit of 38 or higher. I had regularly been donating blood with a level of 38 to 40, and then it went down for some reason. Not to anemia levels, but too low (33 to 35) for the blood center. I tried, without success, to donate for several months. Then I tried the commonly used ferrous sulfate, but it upset my digestive system. My doctor suggested Poly-Iron 150, and within a month or so, my hematocrit was back up and I again began donating blood. Today my hematocrit was 44! And this form of iron does not upset my stomach.
