I read that yeast-bound selenium is absorbed better (they grow yeast in high-selenium soil and then harvest the yeast). Selenium is important for producing detoxifying chemicals in our bodies, and lots of research shows it reduces cancer rates (statistically significant studies). Our ancestors got a lot more selenium naturally in their diets because the soil was better then. This supplement is a good insurance policy (but do research on the internet, since most people shouldn't take too much selenium or for too long a time period).
