Cytogainer Vanilla 3.31 lbs. 3.31 Pounds Review

First off, I have to say this is the very first time I've reviewed something so that's something in itself right there. I just got this product and I have to say the taste and smell is great. I got vanilla mainly to mix in smoothies and NOT taste it, but I was really excited to try it out the first time so I just mixed four scoops in a bottle of water. Vanilla tastes surprisingly good and it's sweet but not over the top like I've read in other reviews. I would recommend getting a shaker or blender or just a closed off container like Tupperware or something (if you want to mix it in your liquid of choice) to get it nice and mixed because it doesn't mix well with water but it'll eventually get there with a few vicious shakes. It also doesn't give any bloating or even filling effect when mixed in water (2 scoops before and 2 scoops after) which is, in my humble opinion, essential to gain weight which is why I bought this in the first place. The only reason I gave this a 4 star is because I found out shortly after purchasing that they had a 6lb tub of vanilla for about 5 bucks more and 2 day free shipping which is a way better deal, but if you just want to test it out and waste money that's fine with me. Oh but the only teeny tiny problem I had was that the scooper was nearly at the bottom of the tub and was difficult to get, but again very minor problem and doesn't affect the rating at all. Anyways, I would highly recommend this product to anyone trying to gain weight, but would recommend the 6lb one more.

Muscle Meds Carnivor, 2-Pounds Review

Muscle Meds Carnivor, 2-Pounds

Taste is good, don't let the "Beef" turn you off. Think of fruit flavored Jello (got the fruit punch flavor). It will foam up a bit as it is mixed. Can't vouch for "Blue Raspberry", this company puts a horrible blue dye in their products that turn your mouth blue. What's that all about?
It's good to have an alternative to other proteins. Whey and Soy are basically toxic.
Stay with Egg and/or Beef.
FYI Bought some at the local nutrition shop (Lindberg Nutrition Center, Torrance, CA) 2 lbs for 31.99 (no waiting, no shipping) Check out your local vitamin wholesale shop.

Prolab Nutrition - N-Large 2 - Chocolate, 10 lb powder Review

Prolab Nutrition - N-Large 2 - Chocolate, 10 lb powder

I'm a "hard gainer" and putting on weight, any weight, be it muscle or even fat, is tough for me. The upshot to that is my weight is pretty stable. When I was in my late teens I went into the hospital for a 30% spontaneous nemothorax (collapsed lung) and had to have an operation. Anyway, my mother was concerned I'd loose a lot of weight, but I hardly lost any, nor did I gain any weight. After my operation my mother asked the doctor what she could give me. He said I just have "a very efficient matabolism", but suggested Ensure as it had a lot of calories. Well, I drank it and didn't gain any weight!
I'm in my 30s and am 5'6" and *used* to weigh in at 120 lbs. Then I got really serious about gaining weight and adding more muscle to my frame. Following the advice of a couple of online bodybuilding gurus (Will Brink being one of them) I increased my daily food intake and supplemented that with a quality protein weight gainer, creatine and workout regimen (using a Bowflex XTL with squat attachment) and I'm gaining muscle. After a few months I now weigh 135 and counting. I'm gaining about 5 pounds a month. My goal is to reach about 150-160 and then trim down to about 145-150. It's important to understand that you will gain some fat when you are trying to gain muscle mass. It's inevitable.
I've tried GNC's Pro Performance Weight Gainer 2200 and MLO's Mus-L Blast 2000. While I liked the taste of GNC the best (chocolate) it's overpriced at roughly $35 for 6 lbs. Mus-L Blast was a relatively good value when I bought it at Rite Aid, but I didn't like the taste (chocolate) at all. Another thing about these two weight gainers I didn't like was the fact that a lot of the calories you're getting in these weight gainers are in the form of sugars...a lot of sugars, especially with GNC. I was feeling tired during the day and couldn't understand why. Excerising should make one energetic, but I always felt drowsy.
Because I was still doing research on weight gainers I was willing to try different ones after my supply of the current one ran out. I was shopping for another weight gainer even before I ran out of the Mus-L Blast because I didn't like the taste at all. I'd drink it really fast because of this. Then I read about Pro Lab's N Large 2 and liked the fact that it doesn't have a lot of sugars and contains more protein per serving. ... bucket it's not cheap, but it is a decent value, especially when compared to the others I've tried. The taste is not as good as GNC's, but is much better than MLO's.
You can find N Large 2 cheaper online than at The Vitamin Shoppe, but if you have a local Vitamin Shoppe near you it evens out when you factor in shipping. Luckily I do have a Vitamin Shoppe near me within a couple miles. The online prices are the same as the local store.
I may still try other protein weight gainers, but for now I'm on my second bucket of N Large 2 because I really like it and it's a good value. The other thing I like about Pro Lab is that they are straight forward in the marketing of their products. There are some weight gainers that tout 4000 calories per serving, but when you read the back label you have to mix it with a gallon of whole milk! Who's going to drink a gallon of milk in one sitting! Even GNC's marketing is suspect. They say 2200 calories per serving, but that's a massive serving too...something like 7 massive scoops of powder mixed with 2 or 4 cups of milk I think. When I used GNC I only mixed one scoop of powder with one cup of milk twice a day. Currently I'm mixing 2 scoops of N Large 2 with 1 cup of 2% milk twice a day with good results.

I just used a 30 day supply of Hercuplan gain weight tablets, and in 5 to 6 days I started to see a change in my arms and my strength seem to go from 75% to 80%. So my opinion, is that this products advertising, is right on the money.

Serious Mass Vanilla 12.0 Lb By Optimum Nutrition Review

My husband goes through 12lbs of this every few weeks. It has helped in gain around 20 pounds which was what he was looking for. The vanilla has been his favorite flavor so far and usually mixes it with 50% water 50% whole milk and adds peanut butter and a banana. He has mentioned that it gives him a "vitamin rush" but he absolutely loves this product.

While this is most likely the best tasting protein powder I've tried (and I've tried many), it isn't all it's cracked up to be. There are just over 1000 calories per serving which is great, and there are 55g of protein which is also great, but a serving is 250 grams. To compare, another powder i had was only 600 calories and 52g protein, but a serving of it was only 150 grams. So if you threw in another 100 grams of that, you'd have 900 calories (almost as much as Muscle Juice) and you'd have about 69g of protein (waayyy more than the muscle juice). So basically this stuff tastes good and has a lot of good stuff in it, but it's partly because they make a serving way more than they should and they don't put in enough protein. It's also a little hard to consume all at once. 250grams of powder combined with 18oz of milk is a lot.

Champion Super Heavyweight Gainer Review

Champion Super Heavyweight Gainer

When I am training for optimal muscle gain I find this to be an excellent meal replacement! The taste is good and real. Mixing is easy. The caloric makeup can be adjusted to suit your needs. It has no artificials in it. It contains an excellent spectrum of good food based nutrients.
In my opinion this is one of the best gainers on the market when all factors are considered. (Price per serving, quality of ingredients, taste, versatility, and nutrient ratio.)
As a meal replacement, I tend to blend in some almond butter to raise the fat content and slow release...as well as consuming a vegetable with it. Often, I mix it with NOW Pro-Gainer and Pure whey to manipulate the nutrient ratio.
Each scoop provides:
225 calories
12.5g Protein
27g Carbohydrates
7.25g Fat
The way I use it alone for a meal replacement...
1.5 scoops Heavyweight 1200
3/4 scoop pure whey (3/4 ounce by weight/ 3/8 Cup by measure)
Almond butter
(celery sticks on the side)
provides
487 Calories
39g protein (32%)
48g carbohydrates (39%)
16g fat (29%)
Blend with some ice to make it instantly cool and very enjoyable.
Great for pre or post workout. Not ideal for during workout.
1/2 cup measured scoop included.

This also applies to the Vanilla BUT NOT the Gainer 900!
