(More customer reviews)This tea has a lovely, subtle aroma and a very distinctive basil taste. It is caffeine free and supposedly energizes you at the cellular level and relieves stress at the same time. It is a very comforting cup of tea when served hot, but would probably be a refreshing summertime drink as well.
You can choose to sweeten it or drink it plain. It is made with three types of tulsi, or holy basil as it's also known.
Update: The retail price of this tea is $4.99 for 18 tea bags. You may find a special price at the Organic India website or elsewhere. I purchased a combination pack of tea bags and loose tea from Dr. Mercola's website a number of months ago.
I have now been drinking this tea much more regularly, and I have to say that it appears to be a good substitute for a nightly beer or glass of wine. It has a very unique effect - it soothes and energizes at the same time. I am hoping to use this tea as part of a modified Dukan diet which I plan to undertake immediately. I followed the recipe on the loose tea canister to make iced tea to keep in the refrigerator. I am hoping that when I get together with friends who are enjoying drinking, I can drink some tulsi tea instead. The tulsi leaves are considered to have remarkable properties and the plant is revered in India. Because this tea is not bitter in any way, I find that you can easily drink it without adding any artificial sweeteners, but if you must have your tea sweet, probably SweetLeaf stevia powder or something similar would be a good choice.
I will update this posting if my plan succeeds. Enjoy!
