My usual moisturiser was Aveeno Positively Radiant with SPF 15 which worked very well. However after the doctor put me on Benzaclin, using an oil free moisturiser was just not working out. I was still seeing flakes on my face and so I went in search of a moisturiser for dry skin.
I went to Whole Foods because they usually have testers of all the products. I only looked at moisturisers for dry skin or any in jars as those tend to give a bit more moisture to the skin. I settled on Alba Jasmine and Vitamin E moisture cream because it absorbed really quickly into the skin and didn't feel greasy at all. The first time I used it at home I put on way too much and my face felt greasy but didn't look shiny. The second time I took out a bit more than a pea sized amount and that was perfect. Using this moisturiser my face always looks hydrated.
There were no visible flakes and I can comfortably put on foundation with this moisturiser. I couldn't with the Aveeno because the flakes were visible when I used the foundation brush. Because it has no SPF I only use it in the morning if I'm not going to be out in the sun (I'll use the Aveeno then) and I also use it every night.
It has a jasmine smell which bothers some people so if you're sensitive to smells you may want to do a smell test before purchasing. The jar itself is 3 ounces and should last a long while since I only use a small amount. I paid $16.99 which I didn't think was that expensive since my Aveeno was just a little less. Alba products can be found in health food stores, Walgreens and CVS (at least I have seen them there).
