(More customer reviews)I've been using EarthRise products for years, but my budget has become far more restrictive in recent months. I chose this brand because it was more affordably priced than other brands. As far as I can discern, there aren't any noticeable differences in quality. The grade, consistency, and taste are identical. As for the taste, Spirulina is pretty unappetizing stuff. Cursory research of the cyanobacteria should explain why and, truth be told, this isn't a dietary supplement that should be consumed with any regard for palatability. I've had friends swear they were poisoned after just tasting the stuff; it's that unpleasant. A bit of advice for anyone new to Spirulina: don't ever make the mistake of ingesting the powder without adequate water. You'll likely choke and collapse into a fit of coughing up a green, nasty, viscous slurry. And try to avoid mixing Spirulina without a blender as the powder does not dissolve readily. I've concocted a passable recipe for my morning Spirulina shake: 1 tbsp of Spirulina powder, a splash of lemon juice, 3 packets of spoonable stevia, 2 cups of water, and 1 tbsp of flax oil. I hope that helps some of you.
***Remember to rinse your utensils free of Spirulina as soon as your done using them. Once it dries, it's like paint. It takes all of 20 seconds to rinse away when wet, but can take a lot of effort to clean once it has dried onto any surface (especially garments).
