This is better than acidophilus, I can't recall why, but I remember that our daughter took this when seriously ill with Lyme Disease & on heavy daily antibiotic; it, served her very well. She was being treated by a prominent Lyme Disease specialist who put her on a strict supportive regimen of various vitamins & supplements. She's been in remission for 10 years now!
We have a cat with a compromised immune system. This is being used daily to support his gut, along with other interesting supplements.
