(More customer reviews)I'm the type of person that doesn't function well unless I've had a good 8 hours rest. But, I've always had problems falling asleep and remaining asleep. In fact, it probably led to a little bit of a drinking problem, because I found the only way to effectively shut my brain off at night was to have a few drinks. But, then you wake up feeling like crap. Plus I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle, and drinking is conducive to that end.
About 2 years ago I found a product called Somatomax. I wouldn't tell you to try this without recommending you do some research. I don't like taking anything I don't have to, so I researched the crap out of it. I can say that I haven't noticed any side effects from taking this regularly, but time will tell.
Somatomax is basically a product that stimulates your brain to release Human Growth Hormone. HGH promotes sleep, and is naturally occurring in your body, but declines with age. This product doesn't contain any HGH (that would be illegal), but it does stimulate the natural production in your pituitary gland. There is a lot of information on HGH online, so do some research, and talk to your doctor.
There are other HGH stimulators on the market, and some you can find at GNC or Health Food Stores. Somatomax (by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals) is the only one I've tried because I've had great results with it.
If you decide to try it, here's what I found works for me:
First of all, START SMALL! I can't stress this enough. The recommended does (1 scoop) looks to be about a heaping tablespoon. Start off with 1/4 a scoop. I didn't do that because I was dumb and had the mantra, the more the better. Not in this case. I took half a scoop and got about 6 hours of sleep, and woke up feeling sort of drunk. A couple of cups of coffee took care of that, but it was a really strange feeling. After a few days of taking Somatomax that feeling went away. Give it two weeks for your body to adjust, then increase the amount you take. I've been taking it (off and on) for 2 years, and I still don't take a full scoop. A 20 serving container lasts me a month and a half.
I recommend taking it Sunday - Thursday, then skip it on the weekends. Also, skip it if you've had more than a few drinks. Again, you'll wake up feeling drunk.
What I hope you'll notice is this: After a week of taking it, you'll find you don't need as much sleep. I know I function best on 8 hours, but I can get away with 6 when taking Somatomax. You also sleep deeper. You hit REM much faster and dream more. I had some crazy dreams at first, and I'm not normally the type of person who remembers dreaming. But, that doesn't happen any more. Now, I feel more alert throughout the day. And, before, I had trouble falling asleep, or napping, even if I was majorly exhausted. Now, i can nap almost any time! I love that. A 10 minute nap is a beautiful thing. I just feel better all around.
