(More customer reviews)There is a widely spread conspiracy theory about the badness of aspartame (NutraSweet) and other artificial sweeteners (and government cover-up). I see no reason to believe that. But I also think that natural is better than artificial.
I bought Stevia just out of curiosity and it did not disappoint me. Stevia products are packaged in many different form. Some in liquid while other in powder. Some of the products are added with artificial flavors (don't buy the flavored varieties, they taste nasty IMO). In the powdered form, some of them are highly concentrated like this one with 95% purity; others are added with filler to simulate sugar sweetness in the same volume. When you shop, you may wonder why a 16oz package costs about the same as this 0.7oz one. Here is your answer.
I used Stevia in black tea. With this concentrated formula, one tea spoon is enough for a whole 64oz jar. Pretty powerful as a natural sweetener. The sweetness taste more like other artificial sweeteners than sugar but no worse. The question did come across my mind that is there any rouge corporation selling concentrated aspartame as Stevia since they look and taste so similar? The answer depends on how much faith you have in a capitalism system.
As far as taste is concerned, Stevia is as good as other sweeteners. As far as cost is concerned, it is higher but not outrageously high since it is highly concentrated. If you have concerns about aspartame or are actually allergic to it, this should be a very good alternative.
