This is straight up, purified branched-chain amino acids with nothing added. No flavor. No sugar. No nothing.
Unflavored, however, does not mean you won't taste anything. BCAAs by themselves are hideously unpleasing. With that said, it works best as something to add to your pre- or post-workout shakes. Something that already is flavored. I might also add that since BCAAs are more hydrophobic than other amino acids, it is very hard to get into solution with water, so make sure you have a shaker handy or a blender.
I decided to buy BCAAs because I've done a lot of reading on Pubmed about studies of people who get better performance on their lifts with a BCAA pre-workout supplement versus placebo or high-carb pre-workout. In addition, I regularly read posts by a bodybuilder blogger named Martin Berkhan who trains with 10 grams BCAA 10-15 minutes before lifting, and based on his personal successes following his own routine of nutrition and fitness, I am thoroughly sold that BCAA is a good supplement to have in your kitchen.
The Primaforce product is fine if you plan to spike it into your already existing pre-workout shake (like Optimum Nutrition whey or something), but if you want a standalone BCAA drink, do not buy Primaforce. I've heard Controlled Labs' Purple Wraath works great for that purpose.
